Hey, I'm Xian and I've worked on the web in one capacity or another for a long time now. Most recently, I worked as a Front End Developer for a network of local news sites that saw millions of users per day. My job was to take designs from UX, via figma, and craft them into functional templates that work across devices and in a variety of scenarios.
Our sites were managed through a single CMS that was built on server-side React. We used Gitlab and circle CI to manage deployments and built our own custom environment for handling AngularJS template code that would be deployed to a third party system for our subscription and paywall vendor.
I consider myself to be an even mix of Developer and Designer and was often given any tasks that had to do with One Off or bespoke pages or to handle design tasks that the UX team was too busy to pick up. In my previous positions, I've worked as a full stack developer that also did all of the design work, as well as handling Graphic Design duties.
I have my own side brand called WuLongToys where I design action figures and board games. I've taught myself how to 3D model in Sketchup and Autodesk Fusion360 as well as build on my graphic design skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Interestingly enough, board game design has been the place where I've gotten more diverse experience than anywhere else as it draws on writing for back stories and world building; analytical and logical thinking for developing game mechanics and rule systems; character design and illustration; graphic design for rulebooks and game assets; 3D design and CAD for miniatures and game components; front end and back end programming and developing for game-related sites and companion apps; to say nothing of marketing, networking, playtesting, material and manufacturer research and logistics; the list goes on and on.
I truly enjoy taking a project from initial concept to completion while wearing as many different hats as possible and working with intelligent people at all stages of the project.
As a multi-classer, I'm comfortable doing design, art assets, code, front-end and some back-end, Marketing and Advertising materials, book covers and page layouts; even designing material parts in CAD for 3D printing.
Need a new website or maybe a new coat of paint on your existing shoppify site? Maybe a custom web app to go with your new product? I can do that.
Does your new book need a cover? Maybe that game you're working on needs cards designed or a professional rule book layout. Let's chat about how I can help out.
I can help bring your ideas to life via part modeling and engineering as well as 3D printed prototyping and fabrication.
